Where the (reading) Boys Are
Posted by: Kaite Stover
While meandering aimlessly around the Internet this morning, much like a couch potato might with the remote, I landed on a blog that is going onto my list of “blogs to check as regularly as my schedule permits.”
It’s Three Guys One Book. What you read is what you get. It’s three guys (and a recently added “silent fourth partner”) who collectively have a boatload of experience in the book world. From writing columns for Ain’t It Cool Newsto book buying for major bookstores, these guys have covered the biblio-spectrum. They write intelligently and thoughtfully about the book business, recently published and forthcoming titles, general bookery and also post great interviews with authors.
It’s not a blog solely for guys who read and the bloggers do not make any claim that it is. Biblio-philes of all genders will find these posts enjoyable. They discuss short stories and novels by both men and women.
What I’m enjoying most about this blog is the masculine point of view when discussing reading. The three men have turned this blog into an online book discussion. They all find different aspects to mull over and occasionally they are focusing on a scene or character in a way that I would never have thought of. I like reading about what guys want to talk about when they talk about what they read.
I’m going to use this blog to select some titles for my book group that may entice more male reader to attend and I will bring up some of the topics that the Three Guys mention in order to generate better conversation among all the readers. It’s always a great help to get a different perspective of reading and discussion. Thanks, Guys!
