Good Books from the Great Lakes
Posted by: Mary Ellen

If you’re located in the Great Lakes area and want to explore regional literature with your book goup, keep an eye on Great Lakes, Great Reads,  a new program of the Great Lakes Independent Booksellers  Association.   GLiBA plans to choose several new books of regional interest a month, and promote them with author visits and marketing materials.

The inaugural pick is Starvation Lake, by Brian Gruley. Gruley is the Chicago Bureau Chief of The Wall Street Journal, and his debut novel is a mystery set in a faded resort town in the northern part of Michigan’s lower peninsula, where his family had a vacation cottage when he was growing up. A Starvation Lake Reading Group Guide is available on the publisher’s Web site.
