Brooklyn in Chicago
Posted by: Admin
Yesterday The Chicago Public Library announced the latest selection in its One Book, One Chicago program: Brooklyn, by Colm Toibin. In the report I saw on the local news, the official who announced the selection seemed almost defensive, explaining that Brooklyn was chosen in part because it’s about Irish immigrants; Chicago, of course, is a big Irish hub. The last few One Book, One Chicago selections have definitely kept the focus on the second city, so I think it’s refreshing that the people in charge of choosing the title went in a different direction this time.
Brooklyn is the eighteenth book in the One Book, One Chicago program. Click here forThe Chicago Public Library’s Resource Guide.
