Through the Heart

One of the issues with running a crime and mystery book discussion is the level of violence, abusive language and sexual content of the books I select. While I have a tendency to skew to the more hardboiled and noir type stories, there are plenty of good traditional crime and mystery novels that would work well for a group.
Then add in an element of romance and you might be made.
Kate Morgenroth’s Through the Heart is a perfect example. It has quirky characters in a Kansas setting. It features the age old conflict between men and women. It has snappy dialogue. There is suspense, but it is more the we-are-warned-there-is-a-cliff-ahead suspense than the slam bang action of a runaway thriller.
But it does have a slam bang ending.
I would think this book would work for any book discussion group looking for romance with a little crime thrown in. It does feature big issues which should lead to great discussion.
