Kansas Notables List
Posted by: Kaite Stover
Each summer the Kansas Notable Books List is announced and I find this is a great place to look for titles with local interest to book groups.
Every year 15 books are selected for the list. It is the only honor for Kansas books by Kansas authors and it is sponsored by the Kansas Center for the Book. This year’s list is a refreshing mix of children’s, young adult, graphic fiction, photography, poetry, fiction, and nonfiction for adults. Some of the titles have been nationally recognized and some have more regional appeal but will garner a larger audience due to earning a spot on the list.
Kansas and Missouri book group leaders looking to add some hometown flavor to their book group selections should take a look at The Evolution of Shadows by Jason Quinn Malott, a novel about the disappearance of a news photographer in war torn Bosnia and Carter Finally Gets It by Brent Crawford, a young adult novel that perfectly captures the humor of being a teenage boy.
Go to the Kansas Center for the Book for previous notable books.
