Seattle Reads 2011: Little Bee
Posted by: Misha Stone
I haven’t been this excited and eager to share some news in a long time.
The 2011 Seattle Reads book was just announced: Little Bee by Chris Cleave.
I raved about Little Bee a lot last year. I recently dropped in on our open-ended discussion group, Let’s Talk About Books, where two readers talked about how much they enjoyed the audio version; this, before they even knew about the announcement. One woman, who also attends my book group, said that she found the book “life-changing” and mentioned that she still had a “Little Bee hangover.”
It is that kind of book. It is powerful. It features two strong, memorable female voices and a delightful child. It is brutal while being uplifting.
Chris Cleave has a very active web site and all signs point to his being an engaging public speaker.
I cannot wait! I am also looking forward to experiencing the audio version of the book.
