The Center for Fiction, a Book Group Resource
Posted by: Neil Hollands
Located on East 47th Street in Manhattan, the Center for Fiction is a nonprofit dedicated to celebrating fiction by supporting authors, readers, and reading groups. If you’re lucky enough to be in New York, you can visit their bookstore, borrow from their library, or sign up for their book groups or special events.
For all of us who aren’t in Manhattan, the Center for Fiction website has resources that are still of use to book groups. You can join the online book group (they discussed Jennifer Egan’s A Visit from the Goon Squad this month). Find lists of recommended books for groups, download audio and video clips of author events, or read new stories or articles about fiction in their online magazine or in sample contributions from other literary journals.
This is a fresh launching of a long-time nonprofit, first founded in 1820 in the historic Mercantile Library building. Give it a look and show your support!
