is admitting you have a problem. Yes, we do. We have a problem.
We are book junkies/hoarders/addicts. And it’s evident to anyone who drops in for a visit. 
Admit it, the bookshelves in other people’s homes are usually the most interesting, and revealing, areas. Who wants to look in medicine cabinets? Boooooorrrriiiiinnnnnggggg.
But there comes a time when we must part ways with some of our printed friends. Usually when we’re changing houses.
If you’ve ever wondered how folks can weed a personal library, Laura Jofre feels your pain. She reorganized and weeded a houseful of books ranging from children’s classics to French existentialism. One of the biggest hurdles was creating criteria for tossing or keeping and the second was finding new homes for the castoffs.
Check out Laura’s experiences here. I was impressed with her willingness to part with Important Prize Winners that were Too Daunting to Read. And I admire her for keeping her high school poetry anthology for the Rolling Stone lyrics she wrote in it. But don’t let too much sentimentality get in the way of your organization.
And the two professional organizers she consulted had some great ideas for decorating with books and bookshelves.

Another great idea is an organization I think called Operation Paperback, which makes it cheap and easy to donate books to our soldiers overseas!
