Military Books

I’ve been thinking a lot recently about men and reading – Ted’s post asking why so few men join book groups dovetailed with a lively discussion about boys/men and reading at an author interview last month, so it’s been on my mind.
To that end, I’m skipping my usual “Women’s Fic Pick” this month and will instead draw your attention to a possible resource for picking “manly” books – the Pritzker Military Library Literature Award. According to the Pritzker Military Library, the award “recognizes a living author for a body of work that has profoundly enriched the public understanding of American military history. ”
The site lists 5 years of previous winning authors, so this might be a good list to check the next time you’re looking for a book that may appeal to your male readers.

Note also the Military Professional Reading Lists at http://militaryprofessionalreadinglists.com/map, “not an official government web site.”
