It’s my favorite time of year! Year-end best of lists! Books, movies, television, music, websites, fashion faux pas and anything else folks care to list.

While they’re probably not the first to post their best list, the Kansas City Star posted their Best Books of 2011 list over the weekend. What I liked about this list is the way it combined fiction (literary and popular), nonfiction, young adult and children’s titles for a Best of the Best list.

All of the nonfiction selections would be great titles for books groups. Look for some surprises on the fiction list as well as titles that have been picking up awards.
