Buzzy Summer Suspense: Gillian Flynn’s “Gone Girl”
Posted by: Misha Stone
The new buzzy suspense book of the summer comes out on June 5th: Gillian Flynn’s Gone Girl. Flynn’s latest suspense novel is a dark, twisted psychological thriller that will have everybody talking. Gone Girl will keep readers guessing every step of the way.
EarlyWord announced Gone Girl as one to watch, with rave reviews in People and The New York Times, with the Times review ending with high praise and even a suggestion that Gone Girl bears rereading: “Gone Girl is this Flynn’s third novel, after Sharp Objects and Dark Places. Dark Places, in particular, drew attention from mystery aficionados, but Gone Girl is Ms. Flynn’s dazzling breakthrough. It is wily, mercurial, subtly layered and populated by characters so well imagined that they’re hard to part with — even if, as in Amy’s case, they are already departed. And if you have any doubts about whether Ms. Flynn measures up to Patricia Highsmith’s level of discreet malice, go back and look at the small details. Whatever you raced past on a first reading will look completely different the second time around.”
Anyone read it yet? Any book groups signing up in advance? I can’t wait to read it and hear what readers have to say.

This was the best book I’ve read so far this year. Completely gripping. It would totally make a great choice for a book club wanting to get into suspense – many angles to debate!
