NPR Tackles Tomes for Teens
Posted by: Neil Hollands
As they did previously with science fiction and fantasy, the folks at NPR have conducted a grand search for the best books for teens. The field was narrowed to 235 choices by a panel of experts, and then the public voted to narrow that selection to a ranked top 100. The final voting predictably skews to more recent selections, but there are plenty of wonderful choices (and wonderful memories) waiting for readers on the list. A book group for younger readers could use this list as inspiration for years, and even the most serious-minded of adult groups would do well to consider a meeting themed around young adult literature. Another fun idea for book groups is to spend an evening debating the merits of a list like this one.
