Book Group Toolbox #158: Reading Women: A Book Club Guide
Posted by: Kaite Stover

Women and books that focus on women’s lives and relationships make up the majority of the attendees and reading matter at book groups.

Nanci Milone Hill recognizes this observation and has responded with a new book group resource facilitators will be happy to consult, Reading Women: A Book Club Guide for Women’s Fiction.

There are two chapters and three appendices. Facilitators will fixate on Chapter one and rightly so. It’s a listing of ninety entries including author, title, author background, short plot summary, elements of appeal, readalikes, discussion questions, and, when available, an online link to other reading discussion guides.

Chapter two consists of over twenty annotations for other books facilitators should consider for discussion. The most useful appendix is the sample book group handout. It’s only one page long and can be easily adapted for any book for any book group.

Facilitators with reading groups harboring an insatiable appetite for worthy women’s fiction titles will appreciate this newest resource.
