Multi-colored multi-tasking

Last year I wrote about Hooks and Books, a Teen Book and Fiber Arts Club at The Kansas City Public Library. Teens gather to discuss young adult literature and graphic novels and also learn how to crochet.
Why should teens have all the fun? The creative and energetic Youth Services staff at the Central Library of KCPL have started another combo book group. This one is for kids between 9 and 12 years and it’s been dubbed, Twisted Yarns.
In Twisted Yarns, participants listen to a book and learn how to knit. The most recent selection isĀ Hate That Cat by Sharon Creech.
Knitting, purling, listening, and talking. These kids are spinning their own yarns.

Wonderful! What’s next up in youth programming? Maybe Listening & Legos!
